Minimise Wrinkles and Puffiness around the Eyes with These Professional Tips

There comes a time in everyone’s life where they start to recognise the signs of ageing. Wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes can have a number of causes, including age, diet, stress, lack of sleep, and genetics.

If the skin around your eyes is starting to look a little worse for wear, you’ll be glad to know there are simple all-natural remedies at your fingertips.

Experiment with Homemade Products

Trying to find a new eye cream can feel like blind guessing a lot of the time. There are so many brands out there and everyone seems to be recommending different ingredients and claiming an array of benefits for their products. Some eye creams are even priced at a few hundred dollars, making them an impossible luxury for many people.

You don’t have to sacrifice your bank account in the quest for beauty; we have narrowed down some fantastic DIY and homemade eye creams to solve your problem with wrinkles and dark circles. Mostly, these natural ingredients can be found in your home and will help you lower the amount of waste you produce.

Make Your Own Coffee Ice Cubes

Ah, caffeine. What can’t it do? In addition to helping you jumpstart your brain, coffee is also a fantastic way to stimulate the blood circulation in your body. When applied close to the eyes, the antioxidants in coffee work to reduce mild imperfections and protect you from further damage. Plus, the added benefit of coffee ice cubes is that the frozen water will brighten your skin, constrict blood vessels, and reduce swelling.

Apply Green Tea Bags to the Eye Area

Not a coffee drinker? Don’t stress because green tea is another drink that is rich in antioxidants and can treat the tired skin around your eyes. Use damp and cold green tea bags to calm the inflamed and puffy areas on your face, and you may begin to notice a tighter and firmer appearance.

Revitalise Your Skin with Coconut Oil

This DIY tip may not help with those pesky dark circles, but it has been found to work for fine lines and dry skin. The drier your skin is, the more likely it will gain imperfections and age faster. Coconut oil has a high concentration of small-chain fatty acids which can work to reduce inflammation when applied under the eyes in small doses.

Remember to Take Your Vitamins

A diet jam-packed with nutrients is the first step to looking and feeling your best. Vitamin E is essential for improving the health of your skin and eyes when it is absorbed through food, and applying it to the skin directly will help to protect and heal the skin under your eyes. Take vitamin E capsules for their antioxidant, hydrating and anti-aging properties.

Vitamin K should be on your frontline for defence against dark circles. When used with retinol, this amazing vitamin is your ultimate hyperpigmentation fighter. Apply it under the eyes in a cream or serum to reduce the appearance of wrinkles over time. You can also boost your vitamin K intake by eating broccoli and other power greens.

Deflate those Puffy Areas with Aloe Vera

Not only is aloe vera amazing for improving the air quality around your home, but you can also apply some of the flesh from your plant directly to the skin around your eyes to combat dryness. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory abilities and it’s full of necessary vitamins, enzymes, fatty acids and minerals, making it a powerhouse for wrinkles and dark circles.

Use Olive Oil to Lock in Moisture

For a simple fix to lock in hydration under the eyes, take your olive oil out of the kitchen cupboard. Due to its high density of fat-soluble vitamins like the ones we’ve listed above, olive oil is a brilliant way to hydrate your skin. Although it isn’t known to be effective on dark circles and wrinkles, locking in moisture is a sure-fire way to protect yourself against issues caused by dry skin.

Combat Dilated Blood Vessels with Arnica Oil

You may not have arnica oil laying around the house… yet. Arnica oil is great for lessening the appearance of bruises and other skin problems that are caused by dilated blood vessels. Simply apply it to skin with prominent blood vessels and it may be all you need to get the results you’re looking for.

Make Skincare a Regular Part of Your Day

Regardless of what DIY tricks you choose to combat wrinkles, blemishes, puffy circles, and more, the only sure way to keep your skin looking fresh is to stick to a skincare regime that works for you. It’s important to cleanse and moisturise your face daily to fight against the early signs of ageing,

Don’t be afraid to use trial-and-error to find the products that suit the condition and needs of your skin. Luckily, the above tips and tricks are extremely simple and affordable. You may already have everything you need in your kitchen cupboard!
